The two pictures of the plastic bits and bobs, were found on the same beach, from the same days. (these were just the more interesting bits from all I picked up) A couple of the Lego pieces, like the little blue flipper, were from a container ship that fell into the sea in 1997. A huge wave hit the cargo ship The Tokio Express and nearly 5 million bits of Lego, ironically all sea themed, ended up in the sea and are still washing up today. You can see their Facebook page here - Its amazing how far some of it has travelled! It seems strange to find so many similar things like the leaves and monopoly houses, I wonder if they are from container spillage too?
Have you found any interesting treasures lately? xx
Love your finds and the tanker story! curious
ReplyDeleteFab new look blog too x
Thank you Tracey! xx
DeleteWow, these are really amazing pictures Caroline. I particularly love the last one, and also all the little soldiers. I've heard about that spilt Lego container, it's quite famous now! Wishing you and yours a good weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ, yes so many soldiers! It is quite famous, I've never found any before though. I bet there's loads you don't actually hear about. Have a great weekend too! xx
DeleteAmazingly beautiful photos as always! I love the way you arrange your collections. They are treasure indeed. I've missed visiting the sea lately but have never found those chaulk stones - they're stunning. My best finds were in the Scilly Isles when I was working there as a Ranger - old glass bottle stops, clay pipes and once I found a porcelain doll (tiny) which had been from a wrecked container too! Very inspiring pics though - and am loving the look of your blog! Clever lady, J9 x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, glad you like them! Wow they sound like great finds, the little doll especially! Thanks for stopping by, have a good weekend. x

Deleteoh that first photo is so satisfying to look at. as is the last. really like the hand in the plastic photos too.
ReplyDeleteoh, and i really like the new look!
Beautiful heart stones! What do you do with all your collections? Do you take them back to were you found them? Lovely new blog design too!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just adore your collections. I am always amazed at the stuff you find! Hayling Island is rubbish for collecting - unless you want crabs and shells which is fine but I want lego and seaglass like you! I need to try some different beaches, clearly. Must be something to do with the tides maybe?
